Welcome!

Thanks for visiting.  This web site recently went through a re-design.   Originally built as a "family web site", with much to do about the Vatcher clan out of Montreal, Canada, it is now more focused on what is interesting to me at a particular time.  I will do my best to keep it updated with current and interesting material.

I'm very much interested in cars; predominantly muscle cars of the 60's, as well as Corvettes.  As a result, much of the site is about cars and car related material.  However, there will still be information and stories about the Vatcher family as well as friends.  I welcome all material that might be of interest to the Vatchers.

Thanks.  Hal

To the right you can see pictures of my 1962 Corvette.  In another section you will see pictures of my 2003 Corvette as well as my "work in progress" GTO.

My Corvette was "born" on December 13, 1961.  I bought her in June of 2003, and have worked hard to make her as reliable as any other car on the road.  I have driven her on multi-thousand mile trips without any serious incident!

Owning a 62 Corvette was a dream of mine from the time the 62 Corvette was announced.  The 1962 Corvette was the first and last of many things.  For example:
  1. First year of the 327 motor.  For it's time, that was a great design.
  2. First year of an aluminum case for the automatic transmission.
  3. Heaters were standard for the first time in 1962.  If you were a racing type, you could order the car with the "heater delete" option.
  4. Seat belts were standard for the first time.
  5. Last year of this body style.  1963 brought the 1st of the Stingrays and the famous "split window coupe".
  6. 62 was the only year of this body style when a different color in the side cove was not offered.   1962 Corvettes were all one solid color as were virtually all Corvettes from that time forward.
  7. Last year of exposed headlights; until the 2005 Corvette came out!
  8. Last year of a "real trunk" until the 1998 convertible.
  9. Last year of the "solid axle".
