It's Thursday and the 'Vette is fixed.

The road up Mt. Evans

This is a 2 lane road!

On Thursday I was able to pick up my ‘Vette; fixed and ready to go.  I decided to once again try and “climb the mountain”.  Charlie & Gerri McManis, fellow Vette Set club members,  met me near the repair shop for the “trip to the top of the world”.  The road up Mt. Evans is the scariest road I have ever driven.  If you raised your eyes off the road in places, you saw nothing but air!!!!  This is also a very narrow, 2 direction road, so it was a challenge at times passing cars going the opposite way.

Mile 7 of the 14 mile road

The road up Mt. Evans is 14 miles after you enter the park.  The first 9 miles, to this lake, were the easiest.  After the lake, it got really winding and narrow, with no center line to help you!.  But we made it.

Loveland Pass

Over the Continental Divide again

We drove back to Breckenridge, via the Loveland Pass.  This is the old road, over the mountains.  This used to be the main passage to points west.  Today, there is the Eisenhower Tunnel that makes it easier.  But we wanted something different, so one again we crossed the Continental Divide at another point.
A great day of adventure, and the official event has not even started.  What a trip!

You can see for miles!!!

The view from the top is spectacular.  You cannot capture the beauty with a camera.  On one side you can see Kansas.  Look south you can see Pike's Peak.  Charlie wanted a better view so he climbed the last 150 or so feet of vertical to get to the real top.  That gave him a 360 degree view of Colorado and surrounding states.  Again, awesome!
